A cleaner United Glass

The glass making process involves large high temperature furnaces. To reduce the discharge of pollutants, and comply with the Pollution Prevention and Control Regulations – 2000 (PPC Regulations), they need high quality air of sufficient pressure to ensure correct plant operation.

United Glass, world leaders in glass making technology, made a decision to invest in dedicated compressed air plants at their Harlow and Alloa sites to treat the furnace combustion emissions. They chose Motivair containerised plant-room systems to minimise site installation requirements

The plant-rooms incorporated Opus rotary screw compressors, filtration, air drying, and control equipment. The complete air generation system was pre-assembled and tested before delivery. This made intergration quick and simple.

David Parkes, Process Control Engineer, United Glass, commented “We are pleased with the timely delivery, and reliability of the equipment supplied by Motivair, and with the ease of integration into our plant”.
